St. Peter’s Family, We may be well into 2019, but I would like to continue to wish each of you and your families a Happy, Healthy and Holy New Year. Our Centennial Campaign continues to thrive and our alumni and foundation support has been overwhelming. Presently, we have surpassed three million dollars in fundraising, which is being applied to our endowment fund. We gratefully acknowledge the Northfield Bank Foundation, our most recent donor, for their generous grant of $25,000.00 toward our Technology Program. As we approach the spring season, we will be reaching out to individual alumni to consider being possible “lead” donors. We also look forward to conducting a Phone-a-thon in the months ahead. Please feel free to contact me or Jack Muraca, our Director of Alumni and Development, with any suggestions or questions you may have. Thank you for your support. God bless! Sincerely,     John A. Fodera ‘62 President

Dear St. Peter's Family: The best part of being the Principal of St. Peter’s Boys High School is watching our young men amaze with actions of which I am overwhelmingly proud. Many of you know of the tragic events that took place with Senior Michael Wright during the Staten Island Polar Plunge. The faith in God, hard work and determination that was displayed by Michael and his family during his recovery was astounding and inspiring for everyone at St. Peter’s and in the Staten Island community. It further warmed my heart to see the undying support of his classmates and friends. The St. Peter’s brotherhood and love were clear as day during this trying time. The entire experience embodies what we are all about. St. Peter’s continues to lend a helping hand in our community. Since December, our caring young men have donated toys to the Burn Unit and Pediatric Ward in Staten Island University Hospital, The Richard Garner Toy Drive, Where to Turn Toy store, The Lasalle School in Freeport, Long Island and the Martin De Pores School in Elmont, New York. The food collected through various food drives from December to February have been donated to the OLGC and St.

The Staten Island community showers Michael Wright with love and support

The Staten Island community showers Michael Wright with love and support Special from Staten Island Advance / SILive.com Published on January 27, 2019 By: Charlie De Biase Jr. A thankful mother Melissa Wright, of course, wishes there didn't have to be a special mass for her son, Michael. It's safe to say that just prior to Dec. 2, the mother of two wasn't expecting to attend a fundraiser for him at St. Peter's Church a little less than a year after taking in his Ring Day ceremony there. But she was indeed at St. Peter's Church Saturday, along with her husband, Michael Sr., and younger son, Vincent, to support her first born like she's never done before. Michael Wright had suffered a serious injury ... he broke two vertebrae ... while taking part in the 12th annual Polar Plunge on that early December day and had recently been discharged from the Kessler Institute for Rehabilitation (N.J.) after a lengthy stay. "A parent's worst nightmare that I want to forget,'' was the way Melissa put it while the fundraiser took place. "But I have a lot to be thankful for ... the prayers, the love, the visits, the way people have reached out to us during this trying time. "It's all

Dear St. Peter's Family: As the Holidays approach, we are thankful for the blessings we receive from God and are filled with a tremendous amount of Pride and Joy just being a part of the St. Peter’s Family. The college application process is in full swing and our seniors, once again, are applying to some of the top universities in the country. Boston College, Villanova, Columbia, NYU, University of North Carolina, UPENN, Stony Brook, Binghamton, Drexel, St. Joseph’s, Stevens Institute of Technology and LaSalle University just to name a few. Our community service program and organizations continue serving our community and live the Lasallian mission. The October Mission drive broke a record in raising 10,000 dollars to send to our Lasallian School in Kenya. The Blood Drive results have earned us the #1 Spot on the east coast with over 300 pints of blood donated. We continue to supply Our Lady of Good Counsel and St. Peter’s, St. Pauls and Assumption food pantries with food that feeds over 400 families in Staten Island. A thank you letter written by the director of the food pantries states “ It is heartwarming to see that St. Peter’s Boys High School is not only committed

Ambitious Student

Hailing from the Bronx of New York, Shakim first learned about St. Peter’s Boys High School from his Pee Wee football coach. He received a scholarship his freshman year, and for the first nine months, Shakim commuted the two and a half hours from the Bronx to Staten Island every day. Shakim now lives with his Pee Wee football coach in Staten Island and is in his senior year at St. Peter’s. He plays tight end and defensive end for St. Peter’s varsity football team. Shakim has caught the eye of several colleges and currently has his sights set on Annapolis, where he plans on attending on a football scholarship. When asked what stood out to him about St. Peter’s, Shakim’s answer was threefold. He said, “We’re good at almost every sport, the teachers are actually there to help you and the friends you make are lifelong friends.” “Not only do the students like it here, but the parents like it, too. Here at St. Peter’s, everyone is helping set you up for real life.”   -Shakim Douglas, '17
