Foreign Language
The program of studies offered is based on a three-year sequence. Students are required to study the same language for at least three successive years. Courses are offered in Spanish and Italian and are divided into three levels: High Honors, Honors or Regents. An interactive experience, foreign language class offers hands-on activities and opportunities for maximum participation.
Study of a foreign language improves a student’s skills in both English and on the SAT. Skills such as problem-solving and dealing with abstract concepts are increased with the study of another language. Foreign language study also enhances a student’s marketable skills and improves opportunities within government, business, medicine, law, technology, military and beyond.
