WILLIAM PETER BLAICH ’65 passed away on June 5, 2026. A Staten Island native, he served his country as a Colonel in the U.S. Army, including deployments to Vietnam and Operation Desert Storm, and later retired from the FDNY as Battalion Commander of the 1st Battalion in Lower Manhattan, where he played a role in responding to the events of Sept. 11, 2001.

THOMAS DONOHUE ’77 passed away on April 2, 2026, at the age of 66. He was a standout athlete at St. Peter’s Boys High School and a dedicated NYPD Sergeant. Thomas was known for his strong work ethic, loyalty, courage and humor.

DENNIS J. “DINNY” HEWITT ’59 passed away on March 14, 2026, at the age of 84. Dennis was a U.S. Army Vietnam War veteran. He earned a history degree from Baruch College and enjoyed a nearly 30-year career as a Teamster. As an avid gardener, many would attest that he grew the best tomatoes.

CHARLES J. HEFFERNAN Jr. ’61 passed away on March 12, 2026, at the age of 83. Charles was a retired Justice of the New York State Supreme Court, Lieutenant Colonel in the U.S. Army Reserve, and a proud Staten Island native. He was a loving husband to his wife, Barbara, for more than 55 years. A graduate of St. Peter’s, Boston College and Fordham University School of Law, Heffernan built a distinguished legal career that included service as an Assistant District Attorney in Manhattan, Chief Assistant to the NYC Special Narcotics Prosecutor, Deputy Criminal Justice Coordinator under Mayor Edward Koch, General Counsel to the NYC Department of Investigation, and, ultimately, Acting Justice of the New York State Supreme Court until his retirement in 2007. He also served for 28 years in the United States Army Reserve, retiring as a Military Judge with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. Known for his passion for the law and public service, Heffernan lectured extensively, authored numerous legal publications and judicial opinions, and received many professional honors throughout his career. He remained deeply involved in civic and educational organizations, serving in leadership roles with Boston College alumni groups, local schools and community organizations. In retirement, he taught law at Salve Regina University for more than a decade and enjoyed spending time with his family, especially attending his children’s and grandchildren’s activities and accomplishments. He will be remembered for his lifelong commitment to service, education, faith and family.

George Snedeker ’56 passed away on Feb. 1, 2026, at the age of 87. He will be dearly missed by friends and family.

TIMOTHY CLINTON ’71 passed away peacefully on Jan. 27, 2026, at the age of 73. A proud Staten Island native, he dedicated 35 years to Con Edison and was known for his strong faith, kindness and devotion to family. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend who never missed an opportunity to support those he loved.

JAMES “JIMMY” CHERRICK ’83 passed away on Jan. 23, 2026. A Staten Island native, he built a career as a carpenter and was known for his quiet strength, hard work and unwavering devotion to his family. James was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend whose steady presence and generous heart touched all who knew him.

GREGORY JOSEPH CAVALLO ’69 passed away on Dec. 19, 2025, at the age of 74, surrounded by his loving family. A devoted husband, father and grandfather, Greg proudly served in the U.S. Army Reserves and built a successful career as a Wall Street trader, while also dedicating years to fundraising for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Known for his warmth and generosity, he loved music, travel, hosting and creating unforgettable moments with friends and family—from Staten Island to the Jersey Shore and later Charleston, South Carolina.

GERALD MULVANEY ’54 passed away on Dec. 3, 2025, at the age of 88. A U.S. Air Force veteran and longtime elevator mechanic with Local 1, Gerald was deeply involved in his parish and community, and was remembered for his decades of service, leadership and love of family.

ANDREW TUSHAK ’82 passed away on Nov. 27, 2025, at the age of 61, surrounded by family. A retired NYPD officer, Andy was known for his love of country, the outdoors and time spent hunting, fishing, grilling and making memories with those he loved.

HARRY FRANCIS HOOKER ’56 passed away on Nov. 19, 2025, at the age of 86, surrounded by his loving family. He proudly served in the U.S. Army in Germany and enjoyed a long career with Unisys before dedicating 16 years as a paraprofessional in the North Plainfield Public Schools.

PETER A. HAGEN ’63 passed away on Nov. 4, 2025, after a long illness. A devoted husband and father, Peter enjoyed a long career with Western Electric and AT&T and was best known for his love of Lake Buel, the outdoors, travel and the steady way he supported family, friends and community.

ROGER STELLA ’86 passed away on Oct. 24, 2025. He will be missed dearly by friends and loved ones.

JOSEPH P. RICCARDI ’52 passed away on Sept. 27, 2025, at the age of 91. A Korean War veteran and longtime Manhattan stockbroker, Joe was a devoted family man known for his strong faith, generosity and the joy he found in gathering loved ones together.

SCOTT WILLIAM MYERS ’81 passed away on Sept. 12, 2025, at the age of 62, surrounded by his family. A devoted husband and father, Scott worked as an elevator mechanic with Local 1 and was known for his love of sports, his humor and storytelling, and the way he always showed up for the people he loved.

BRIAN MANNING ’00 passed away in August of 2025. He will be remembered by his St. Peter’s family and all whose lives he touched.

JOHN ROGER MORRIS ’56 passed away on Aug. 11, 2025. A Staten Island native and U.S. Army veteran, John built an accomplished career in finance, holding leadership roles at firms including Goldman Sachs, Salomon Brothers and Merrill Lynch.

JOHN PATRICK FORSYTH ’73 passed away on Aug. 10, 2025, at the age of 70. A Staten Island native and longtime operating engineer with Local 94, Patrick was known for his devotion to faith, family and community.

JOHN JAMES KIMBALL JR. ’86 passed away on July 21, 2025, at the age of 57. A lifelong Staten Island resident, John served with the NYPD for 35 years, rising to the rank of Police Captain.

MICHAEL W. GREGORIO ’65 passed away on July 14, 2025, at the age of 77. A Manhattan native and lifelong Staten Islander, Michael was a talented singer and performer best known as a member of The Brooklyn Bridge, earning a gold record for “The Worst That Could Happen.”

CHARLES DENNIS JONES ’61 passed away on July 6, 2025, at the age of 81 after a long illness. A decorated U.S. Air Force Colonel and Vietnam veteran, Charlie served 26 years as a combat pilot and commander before continuing his career in leadership roles with major defense contractors. He later founded C&L Consulting and devoted his time to numerous charitable causes.

ROBERT “BOB” REICH ’54 passed away on June 16, 2025, at the age of 87. Bob was a talented athlete, coach and television broadcaster. Known for his kindness, humor and motto “Hangin’ Tough,” he will be remembered as a devoted husband, father and grandfather.

JOHN STEVEN “STEVE” KONKO ’71 passed away on June 3, 2025, at the age of 72. A lifelong Staten Island resident, Steve worked for more than 30 years as a circulation district manager for the Staten Island Advance. He was known for his humor, love of cars and passion for music and the outdoors.

HOWARD V. SAVERY ’51 passed away on May 29, 2025, at the age of 91. He will be missed dearly.

ALBERT J. HERMAN ’54 passed away on May 20, 2025. A Staten Island native and longtime Colts Neck resident, Albert graduated top of his class from the New York Maritime Academy and served as a Lieutenant Commander in the U.S. Navy. He later built a distinguished career with Mobil Oil, retiring as Executive Vice President of Mobil Global Shipping. An avid boater and fisherman, Albert was known for his adventurous spirit, love of the sea and motto: “Let the adventure begin.”

THOMAS F. DOLAN JR. ‘65 passed away on May 13, 2025, at the age of 77. A beloved husband, father and grandfather, he will be remembered for the love and joy he shared with his family and community.

WILLIAM BARRY ’48 passed away peacefully on April 13, 2025, at the age of 94. A proud U.S. Air Force veteran of 20 years who served during the Korean War, William later worked for the Granby Highway Department and Atlas Copco, and was known for his independence, humor and love of birdwatching, gardening and the Boston Red Sox.

PETER M. DREYER ’54 passed away on March 31, 2025. A longtime resident of Bayport, NewYork, Peter served with the NYPD for 30 years, retiring as a Detective Sergeant in 1989. He later owned and operated Dreyer Exterminating, which continues to be run by his son.

TOM MALTA ’81 passed away on March 31, 2025, in Bluffton, South Carolina, after a courageous battle with cancer. A tech industry leader and founder of IAM Experts, Tom was best known for his warm spirit, sense of humor and deep devotion to family. He and his wife Tricia shared 40 joyful years together. Tom loved travel, college football, food and long porch chats with a stogie and tequila in hand. He brought light and laughter wherever he went.

STEPHEN CHRISTOFFERSEN ’80 passed away peacefully at his home in Port Crane, New York, on March 18, 2025. A skilled builder and devoted father and grandfather, Steve was known for his hands-on spirit and the strong foundation he built for his family.

ALAN BALDASSANO ’84 passed away after a career in education that included serving as an assistant principal in Manhattan GED programs. He returned to the classroom in retirement as a substitute teacher at McKee High School. A master of Jujutsu and student of meteorology, Alan was also a passionate political thinker who loved family time in Florida and adored his dog, Noodles. He is survived by his wife Nancy, children Julia and Michael, and many who cherished him.

WILLIAM “BILL” P. MURTHA ’61 passed away peacefully on Feb. 24, 2025, surrounded by family. A Jaques Award winner and Staten Island basketball legend, Bill’s legacy lived on long after his high school days under coach Jack McGinley. He went on to play at Loyola Chicago and GW before a tragic accident ended his playing career. Bill dedicated his life to special education and advocacy, especially for his former students at Mount Loretto. He will be remembered for his resilience, warmth and the deep impact he made on everyone around him.

LOUIS H. ORLEMAN ’53 passed away on Feb. 24, 2025, at the age of 89. A U.S. Army National Guard veteran and graduate of the Class of 1953, Lou spent much of his life working in the data processing industry and living on Cape Cod with his beloved wife, Jean. Known for his mechanical skills, love of classic cars and devotion to family, Lou was also the founder of the “Road Trotters” car club. He faced life’s challenges with dignity and grace, leaving behind a legacy of love, faith and quiet strength.

ANTONIO “TONY” AMATO IV ’03 passed away unexpectedly on Feb. 17, 2025. A dedicated employee of the New York City Department of Sanitation, Tony was known for his infectious humor, generosity and devotion to his family. He found joy in everyday moments—from feeding ducks at Willowbrook Park to caring for his dogs, Penny and Roxy. Tony will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

ROGER J. DAGGETT ’72 passed away on Feb. 11, 2025. A Staten Island native and graduate of the Culinary Institute of America, Roger spent 30 years as a Nuclear Security Officer at Indian Point Power Station before retiring in 2017.

RAYMOND V. RHATIGAN ’54 passed away on Feb. 10, 2025, at the age of 88. A Staten Island native, Ray was a proud U.S. Marine, an accomplished businessman and a lifelong golfer.

JAMES JOSEPH WAGNER ’64 passed away on Feb. 3, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. A Navy veteran who served on the USS Saratoga, James went on to a long career with the NYPD, retiring as a sergeant. He was deeply devoted to his family and took great pride in his role as husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. His legacy of service, love and dedication to others lives on in all who knew him.

DANIEL J. COLLINS ’51 passed away on Feb. 2, 2025, at the age of 91. A proud Staten Island native and U.S. Army veteran, Dan spent 38 years with AT&T and was an active member of St. Rita’s Parish and the American Legion.

SANTO COLLORA ’87 passed away on Jan. 31, 2025, at the age of 55. A Staten Island native, Santo earned a business degree from St. Francis College and served as a Vice President in the banking industry. He was an accomplished athlete who played baseball from Little League through college and was selected for the Empire State Games. Santo will be fondly remembered for his devotion to family, his love of sports and his passionate support for his favorite New York teams.

THOMAS P. HOLLYWOOD JR. ’70 passed away on Jan. 28, 2025, at age 72. A U.S. Army National Guard veteran and longtime Con Edison employee, Thomas was a devoted husband, father and grandfather who cherished family time, fishing trips and bowling. He was a proud supporter of New York’s sports teams and known for his unwavering sense of community. He is survived by his wife Lisa, seven children, grandchildren, siblings, and extended family. His legacy of love, service and simplicity lives on in all who knew him.

JAMES W. CONROY ’48 passed away on Jan. 27, 2025, at the age of 93. A Korean War U.S. Air Force veteran and longtime stockbroker at the American Stock Exchange, James was an avid sports fan, coach and golfer who remained deeply involved in Staten Island athletics for decades.

SALVATORE A. CIOFFI ’12 passed away on Jan. 24, 2025. Known for his kindness, humor and warm heart, Sal volunteered as an Auxiliary Police Officer before enlisting in the U.S. Navy, where he served honorably as an Operations Specialist in Pearl Harbor. He later relocated to Arizona, where he cherished time with family and friends. Sal also worked in the family business, Ace Auto Salvage, and was proud of the many military honors he earned during his service. He will be remembered for his laughter, loyalty and love for good food, football and family.

JAMES “JIM” F. MCCARTHY JR. ’56 of Lebanon, New Jersey, passed away on Jan. 23, 2025, at the age of 86. A graduate of Seton Hall University, Jim worked at AT&T and was deeply involved in community organizations like the FIDES Club and Lebanon Borough Planning Board. He was passionate about Revolutionary War history, genealogy and mystery novels. Jim was a proud father of six, grandfather and great-grandfather who cherished family holidays and travels with his wife. He leaves behind a legacy of love and public service.

ANTHONY “TONY” VENTRONE ’81 passed away on Jan. 10, 2025, in NYC, at the age of 61. A graduate of St. Peter’s and Saint Peter’s University, Tony devoted his life to helping others as an EMT and psychiatric nurse. He cherished time with his family, especially his granddaughters, and enjoyed annual Disney trips with his wife, Nancy and children. His compassion, dedication and joy for life will not be forgotten.

NICHOLAS NAVARINO ’51 passed away on Dec. 19, 2024, at the age of 90, surrounded by family. A devoted educator and school principal, he earned advanced degrees from Wagner College and UNC. Nicholas served in the military and led several New Jersey schools over his 40-year career. In retirement, he and his wife Patricia opened an art school in Massachusetts. He will be remembered for his intellect, humor and deep love for family and students.

JAMES T. HARTMAN ’82 will be remembered as a kind and generous colleague, always willing to help others. His work at ADT in Manhattan left a lasting impression on those around him. With a warm smile and a big heart, Jim went above and beyond for his team. He was a true friend to many who will be greatly missed.

RONALD A. ROSA ’60 passed away on Nov. 13, 2024, at Staten Island University Hospital. A respected Staten Island orthodontist, Dr. Rosa served patients for decades and was remembered for his kindness, dedication to his work and his beloved rescue dog, Apollo.

MICHAEL DAVID HOEY ’89 passed away on Staten Island at the age of 53 after a courageous battle with cancer. A Sacred Heart parishioner and St. Peter’s graduate, Michael earned a history degree from St. John’s University. He was known for his kindness, sense of humor and love of sports. Michael was a beloved son, brother, uncle and friend who touched countless lives through his warmth and generosity.

FREDERICK C. BAUMANN ’54 passed away on Oct. 21, 2024, at the age of 88. An Army veteran and longtime employee of Wyeth-Ayerst, Fred was a graduate of Ursinus College. He loved golfing, shooting pool, solving puzzles and walking his dogs in the woods. He is survived by his wife, Joan, children, stepchildren, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and extended family. His quiet joy, dedication to family and love of the outdoors will be deeply missed.

LOUIS J. MORBELLI JR. ’56 of Berkeley Township, passed away on Oct. 19, 2024, at the age of 86. Born in Brooklyn and raised in Manhattan, Louie was a U.S. Army veteran and custodian engineer for NYC’s Board of Education. He enjoyed fishing, crabbing, woodworking and spending time with his grandchildren. Louie was active in the American Legion, his parish, and loved building anything his grandkids imagined. His legacy of craftsmanship and kindness lives on through his family.

WILLIAM C. WILKENS ’59 of Lighthouse Hill, passed away in 2024, at the age of 83. A graduate of St. Peter’s, Brooklyn College and Wagner College, he served in the U.S. Coast Guard and spent 32 years with the NYPD, retiring as a Captain. He held command roles across several NYPD units and was a respected leader and mentor. Bill was a loving husband, father and grandfather who left a lasting legacy in both family and public service.

JAMES W. SMITH ’47 passed away on Aug. 26, 2024, at the age of 94, at his home in Rossmoor, New Jersey. Born in Staten Island, he served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War aboard the USS Cabot. A retired NYPD officer, Jim also worked as a stationary engineer post-retirement. He and his wife Ann were married for 69 years and shared a life filled with travel, family and devotion to their community. Jim loved golf, coaching youth sports, and cheering on his grandchildren.

REVEREND NICHOLAS L. GREGORIS ’89 passed away unexpectedly on Aug. 21, 2024, at the age of 52. A gifted priest, theologian, author and educator, Father Gregoris served the Church through teaching, ministry, writing and scholarship, and was widely respected for his devotion to the Sacred Liturgy and his lifelong commitment to faith and learning.

FREDERICK “FRED” SKELNAR ’56 passed away at the age of 86 after a remarkable life filled with art, service and family. A gifted artist, Fred studied at Pratt Institute and carried on the family’s artistic legacy through watercolor, oil and acrylic works. He served as an art director for national publications and created visual covers for Electronics Magazine during the rise of modern technology. Fred, a National Guard Sergeant and avid baseball player, coached youth sports and taught art privately and at schools. His faith and passion for teaching continued into retirement, inspiring generations with his creativity and warmth. He was a proud alum of St. Peter’s Boys High School and will be remembered for his artistry and devotion to family.

RONALD JOSEPH ENGLES ’50 passed away on Aug. 17, 2024, in Round Rock, Texas, at the age of 91. A graduate of St. Peter’s High School, he served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War, intercepting radio signals from Russian pilots. Ron later earned his MBA from Baruch College and worked in accounting while raising a family on Staten Island. He gave back to his community as a youth sports coach, tax preparer for friends, and dedicated volunteer. His lifelong commitment to service and ethics left a lasting impression on all who knew him.

PAUL GERARD TORELLO ’86 of Bushkill, Pennsylvania, passed away on Aug. 11, 2024, after a long battle with cancer, at the age of 55. A native of Staten Island, Paul attended Sacred Heart and St. Peter’s High School and was known for his talent in construction and craftsmanship. He shared a beautiful life with his wife Jeanette and their three sons, living in Hawaii, the Poconos and Myrtle Beach. Paul later enjoyed a successful career in automotive sales before returning to Pennsylvania in 2023 to be close to family. He will be remembered for his humor, hard work and deep love for his family.

GEORGE A. DOUGHERTY ’55, of Spring Lake Heights, passed away on July 27, 2024, at the age of 87, surrounded by his loving wife and daughters. A graduate of St. Peter’s High School, St. Peter’s University, and the University of Notre Dame, George served as a 1st Lieutenant during the Cuban Missile Crisis before beginning a distinguished 40-year career in finance. He managed trading desks at U.S. Trust Company and became an expert in restricted stock transactions. After retiring, George taught economics at Brookdale Community College and volunteered for Habitat for Humanity and local organizations. He was devoted to his family, church and community. He will be remembered for his intellect, kindness and love of learning.

CHARLES L. “BOONIE” RICCARDI JR. ’52 passed away on July 22, 2024, at the age of 89. He was a dedicated public transportation servant, employed by the Pennsylvania Railroad and New Jersey Transit for 42 years, and a proud U.S. Army veteran.

ROBERT ANDREW (BOB) SOLDIVERA ’57 passed away on July 11, 2024, in Emmaus, Pennsylvania, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born on Staten Island in 1939, Bob was a talented orchestra leader, a dedicated coach in shooting sports, and an accomplished aviation enthusiast who served with distinction in the U.S. Air Force Reserve Program. His lifelong love for music led him to perform at high-profile events like the 1964 World’s Fair and President Johnson’s Inaugural. Bob’s legacy extended into community service, mentoring youth through the Boy Scouts and earning numerous national honors. He is remembered as a man of great integrity, talent and devotion to family and friends.

CHARLES OLSEN ’69 passed away on July 1, 2024, at the age of 73, after a 50-year career in engineering. A Staten Island native, Charlie graduated from St. Peter’s and CCNY, later earning a master’s degree and his PE license. Known for his problem-solving skills and love of engineering, he was a go-to advisor at American Electric Power. Charlie was also dedicated to charitable work, tutoring students and volunteering with Habitat for Humanity and the Food Bank of Mid-Ohio. His passions included fitness, cars and his beloved cats—and he was always there to lend a helping hand.

RICHARD PIKULSKI ’64 of East Hampton, Connecticut, passed away on June 30, 2024, at the age of 77, after battling a neurodegenerative illness caused by Agent Orange exposure. A proud St. Peter’s graduate and Vietnam War veteran, Rich served in the U.S. Army and was awarded the Bronze Star. He later earned a degree from St. John’s University and had a lifelong love of reading and history. Rich was deeply loved by his wife, Julie, family, friends and caregivers. His humor, intellect and bravery will be missed by all who knew him.

BENNY LIANTONIO ’90 passed away on June 24, 2024, at the age of 51. Benny served others throughout his personal life and professionally, working with his father at “Liantonio Contracting,” masterfully building residential and commercial projects together. Benny also served with the NYC Department of Sanitation.

FARRELL M. KANE ’50 passed away on June 10, 2024, at the age of 91. A U.S. Army veteran, Farrell loved history and writing and authored the novel, “The Secondary,” as well as many short stories for his grandchildren.

GERALD F. MURPHY, P.E. ’65 passed away on June 9, 2024. Gerald was a skilled engineer, a pioneer in renewable energy and founder, president and Owner of Nordling Dean Electric Co, Inc.

DR . WILLIAM F. WOLFE JR . ’50 passed away on May 24, 2024. After graduating from St. Peter’s, Bill served as a Merchant Marine on oil tankers for the ESSO Company followed by serving in the US Army from 1953-1955. He practiced Chiropractic in New York and Vermont.

MARIO A. QUATTROCHI ’62 of Malvern, Pennsylvania, passed away on May 24, 2024, at the age of 79, surrounded by his family. Born on Staten Island, Mario was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He worked for PennDOT and Sun Oil Company and enjoyed winters in Ft. Myers Beach, Florida. Mario was known for his attention to detail and love of family, pets and travel. He is survived by his wife Violet, children Bonnie and Christopher, and a large extended family who will cherish his memory.

FRANK VINCENT MINERO, M.D., ’60, passed away on May 14, 2024, in Los Angeles, California, at the age of 81. A proud graduate of St. Peter’s Boys High School and Seton Hall University, Dr. Minero went on to earn his medical degree from Rutgers New Jersey Medical School. In 1980, he co-founded San Marino Psychiatric Associates, building a highly regarded psychiatric practice in Los Angeles. He met his wife, Karen, during a fateful moment at the St. George movie theater and shared a life filled with purpose and compassion. Dr. Minero was often compared to his uncle, Navy Chaplain Father Vincent Capodanno, known for counseling and aiding soldiers in Vietnam. His legacy of care and selflessness lives on in the countless lives he touched.

JOHN “COKE” DECOUFLE ’62 passed away after a long career in banking and a life of service at the age of 80. A proud Marine and Vietnam veteran, John rose to Sergeant and later worked 42 years at the Bank of Montreal. He was a devoted uncle and son and loved giving back to his community. John volunteered with Central Park Conservancy and his local co-op, always staying active and helpful. He will be remembered for his discipline, warmth and generosity.

FRANK J. BORTLE ’87 passed away on May 13, 2024, at the age of 54. Aside from his career as a senior marketing consultant for ValPak, Frank was a loving husband and father.

BERNARD BOWDEN ’62 passed away on May 9, 2024, at the age of 79. Bernard held a long career in the insurance and reinsurance businesses, including time as the CFO of J.L.Kelley Inc. and as Executive Vice President at Guy Carpenter & Co.

ANDREW LAMBERTI ’64 passed away on May 6, 2024, at the age of 77. After retiring from education, Lamberti enjoyed a 30-year career as a self-employed comedy writer, with sales to Marvel Comics, PBS, “Cracked,” “Humor Magazine” and hundreds of national magazines, as well as grade school textbooks and performable comedy material through comedy services in Hollywood, California.

JOHN ROBERT CREWS ’61 passed away on April 26, 2024, at the age of 81. Throughout his educational career, John led students, staff and his field as a principal, assistant superintendent, professor and on the planning committee for the Institute for Educational Leadership in Washington, D.C.

MATTHEW THOMAS O’CONNOR ’65 passed away on April 19, 2024, at the age of 76. A proud member of Operating Engineers Local 15 for 50 years, Matt contributed to major New York projects, including the Holland Tunnel and World Trade Center.

FRANCIS A. “FRANK” FOY ’54 passed away on March 31, 2024, at the age of 88. He was a U.S. Army veteran, an F.D.N.Y. firefighter of 23 years and an active member of the Knights of Columbus.

JOSEPH J. TARQUINO ’61 of Auburn, NY, passed away on Easter Sunday, March 31, 2024, at the age of 81. A native of Staten Island, Joe was a proud graduate of St. Peter’s and worked as a mason for many years. He loved birdwatching, cooking red sauce, and cheering on Syracuse basketball. A parishioner of St. Mary’s Church and supporter of the Wounded Warrior Project, Joe found joy in his family and his dog, Lulu. He is survived by his wife Maureen, daughter Cheryl, and grandchildren Ryan and Meghan.

Lawrence “Larry” W. McGurk ‘64 passed away on March 8, 2024, at the age of 77.

Marty Steven Thomas ‘82 passed away on Feb. 25, 2024, at the age of 59. He will be dearly missed by friends and family.

RICHARD OETTING ’84 was a kind, humble and talented athlete who made a lasting impression at St. Peter’s and beyond. He was a dear friend and fierce competitor in shot put. He will be remembered with respect and admiration by his classmates and teammates.

Brendan T Burke ‘64 passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 30, 2024, at the age of 77. Brendan was a decorated Marine who served in Vietnam. He was also a dedicated member of the Marist College community and served on the Board of Trustees for over 20 years, as well as a devoted husband, father and grandfather.

THOMAS FANNIN ’62 of Conover, North Carolina, passed away on Jan. 27, 2024, at the age of 81. Born in Staten Island, Tom had a long career as Vice President of Compensation and Benefits at Alex Lee, Inc. He enjoyed tennis, playing games with loved ones, and was a proud member of St. Joseph’s Church. Tom’s greatest joy was his family, and he will be remembered for his quiet strength and gentle spirit.

JAMES “JIMMY” F. SILLS JR . ’66 passed away on Jan. 22, 2024. An avid New York sports fan and local sanitation worker, James will be missed by the community.

RICHARD DOWNING ’70 passed away on Jan. 20, 2024, at the age of 71. Raised on Staten Island, Richie was a tugboat deckhand for Great Lakes Dredge and Dock Company, eventually working for the Reinhauer Transportation Company post-graduation.

Edward T. Hicks ‘67 passed away on Jan.12, 2024, at the age of 74. He will be dearly missed by friends and family.

DANIEL MAHALA ’51 passed away on Jan. 3, 2024, at the age of 89. Daniel was a U.S. Army veteran, a former public school teacher and a native Staten Islander who loved to travel.

William B. Newman ‘49 passed away peacefully on Dec. 26, 2023. William was a beloved father, grandfather and great–grandfather, as well as a U.S. Navy Korean War veteran. William was a lifelong, devoted parishioner of St. Peter’s Church, active in the Holy Name Society for many years.

JOHN “JOHNNY” C. REPAGE ’81 passed away on Dec. 25, 2023. As a man with many passions, Johnny spent his life serving others through a distinguished healthcare career as an EMT at Richmond University Medical Center, as the Chief of the North Shore Rescue Squad, and as an ER nurse at Maimonides and Staten Island South hospitals.

JOHN CHRISTOPHER PH.D. ’61 passed away on Dec. 20, 2023, at the age of 80. Over a 40-year academic career, John authored numerous books and articles, including “Traditions of Inquiry” (1985) and “The Origins of Composition Studies in the American College, 1875-1925” (1995). He was co-editor of the well-known “Norton Reader” for 25 years and also wrote several textbooks.

GEORGE RUSSELL SMITH ’68 passed away on Dec. 3, 2023, at the age of 72. Born in Staten Island, George held a distinguished career in the financial world, retiring as the Finance Director of The Steak-Umm Corporation.

John Scullin ‘55 passed away on June 6, 2023, at the age of 85. John played saxophone in the Army band while in Korea and enjoyed a lifelong career as a writer and editor for 3M.

William J. O’Brien ‘49 passed away on May 27, 2023, at the age of 92. William was a retired U.S. Army Military Police officer during the Korean War and an active member of the American Legion, serving as commander of Watkins-Kellet Post (1973-1974) and again from 2002-2003.

Robert “Bob” Fraser ‘64 passed away on May 12, 2023. Bob was a distinguished professor at the University of Washington School of Medicine’s departments of neurology, neurosurgery and rehabilitation medicine.

JOSEPH (JOE) CANNIZZARO ‘76 passed away on May 5, 2023, at the age of 65. He was a well-respected member of the Staten Island community, a driven entrepreneur, and, in his free time, a passionate and knowledgeable motorcycle and classic car enthusiast.

LOUIS CORONATO ‘59 passed away on April 18, 2023, at the age of 80. Louis enjoyed a varied career, holding positions as an engineer, salesman and, later, founding his own manufacturer’s representative business. Louis worked as a CT&G Corp partner until retirement.

GREGORY V. DRISCOLL ‘62 passed away on April 1, 2023, at the age of 79. Gregory graduated as valedictorian of his St. Peter’s class and, enjoyed a loving family life with his wife and three children. Gregory was also a U.S. Army veteran who served in Vietnam.

William “Bill” Cloke ‘57 passed away on Feb. 3, 2023, at the age of 83. Bill enjoyed an accomplished career supervising the New York Boroughs and was an avid athlete and loving family man.

JOHN PATRICK MCMAHON ‘54 passed away on Jan. 12, 2023, at the age of 85. A Staten Island native, John built a successful career as a systems engineer and patent attorney, working with organizations including NASA and the Department of Defense.

THOMAS EDWARD MALLEY ’59 passed away peacefully on Jan. 11, 2023, at the age of 81. A longtime radio DJ and sports announcer, Tom was a beloved community presence known for his love of Irish culture, theater, faith and the way he made everyone feel like a friend.
