14 Sep Coach Charlie Driscoll receives Joe Ryan Memorial Award
Coach Charlie Driscoll will be recognized on Oct. 20, 2018, during the 15th annual Joe Ryan Memorial Awards dinner. Coach Driscoll is one of four Staten Island educators to receive this year’s award. According to a recent article in the Staten Island Advance, Driscoll will be recognized for his 29 years at St. Peter’s as the school’s basketball coach. During his time coaching, Driscoll coached the junior varsity team for 12 seasons and won five SIHSL titles. He went on to coach the varsity team to 298 wins and eight SIHSL title. This includes the most SIHSL tournament wins with 37 total.
The other award recipients include Gela Mikalauskas, Rich Potter and Tom Tierney Jr.
