From the Desk of Principal Cosentino

Dear St. Peter’s Family:

As the Holidays approach, we are thankful for the blessings we receive from God and are filled with a tremendous amount of Pride and Joy just being a part of the St. Peter’s Family. The college application process is in full swing and our seniors, once again, are applying to some of the top universities in the country. Boston College, Villanova, Columbia, NYU, University of North Carolina, UPENN, Stony Brook, Binghamton, Drexel, St. Joseph’s, Stevens Institute of Technology and LaSalle University just to name a few.

Our community service program and organizations continue serving our community and live the Lasallian mission. The October Mission drive broke a record in raising 10,000 dollars to send to our Lasallian School in Kenya. The Blood Drive results have earned us the #1 Spot on the east coast with over 300 pints of blood donated. We continue to supply Our Lady of Good Counsel and St. Peter’s, St. Pauls and Assumption food pantries with food that feeds over 400 families in Staten Island. A thank you letter written by the director of the food pantries states “ It is heartwarming to see that St. Peter’s Boys High School is not only committed to the intellectual development of the young men but also guiding the formation of strong character formation based on Christian Values and an awareness of social justice issues”. We also brought 70 thanksgiving packets to LaSalle elementary school in Freeport L.I. The boys also tutor throughout the Staten Island elementary schools helping our youth succeed academically.

On the athletic front Soccer and Football represented St. Peter’s well this season. The fall athletic success was highlighted by the Freshman Cross country team that won the Staten Island Championships and Placed 2nd in the archdiocese. As always we are anticipating another successful year for the basketball program as the teams gear up for Thanksgiving eve. John Walsh ’84, has stepped down as JV head coach and handed the reins to Ryan Woods ’08. Ryan a D-1 product is more than an adequate replacement as he has been assisting under Charlie Driscoll for a few years. Good luck Ryan! Our baseball players continue to succeed with one of our juniors Matthew Bedford, committing to the University of Notre Dame!!! We also have a new wrestling coach Joe DeSimone, which is another great addition to our coaching staff. Lacrosse is underway under new head coach Pat Clyne. Yes, Lacrosse sticks are on the field at 200 Clinton Avenue.

Thanks again for all of your support and we look forward to seeing you at St. Peter’s and one of our upcoming events.

God Bless and Happy Holidays
