Dr. Harold F. Reilly ‘50
To say that Dr. Harold F. Reilly ‘50 appreciates his time at St. Peter’s would be a vast understatement. A member of the class of 1950, Dr. Reilly credits the rigorous academics and gentle support of the Christian Brothers at St. Peter’s with instilling in him the principles that led him to a long and successful career in medicine.
Dr. Reilly also enjoyed a successful high school, college and semi-pro career in baseball. He was a four-year varsity team member at St. Peter’s, earned a full-ride baseball scholarship to the University of Notre Dame and played for the Staten Island Yankees. However these days, you’ll more likely find Dr. Reilly on a golf course rather than a baseball diamond.
After graduating with his doctorate from Georgetown University, Dr. Reilly would work at several hospitals in New York and eventually open his own practice in staten Island. Retiring from medicine in 2004 after a career spanning almost 50 years, Dr. Reilly remains passionate about providing help and service to others. Dr. Reilly was blessed to be married to Claire Dobbin for 67 years before she passed away in 2021, and has enjoyed watching his six children and 13 grandchildren grow up and pursue their passions.
Dr. Reilly is honored and proud to be a Hall of Fame inductee, given how fondly he remembers his years at St. Peter’s. Amongst his many accomplishments, this honor ranks just below his pride in his family.
