Mr. Frank C. Siller, ‘71

Family and community service are two cornerstones that define the life and accomplishments of Frank C. Siller, ‘71. Faced with a choice as a youth on whether to attend Rice Academy or St. Peter’s, Frank chose St. Peter’s because his older brother Russell was a teacher at St. Peter’s. This family connection led to Frank making many friendships with other students that continue to this day.

Frank had an active career after graduation, eventually opening his own business in 1986 (Staten Island Furrier) and owning a construction company called Preferred Realty Development Corp. But Frank’s job would change after his brother New York City Firefighter Stephen was killed during 9/11.

Along with his remaining siblings, Frank started the Tunnel to Towers Foundation to honor all of those who gave their lives during 9/11, and the Foundation now helps heroes across the nation. Born from the tragedy of 9/11, the Tunnel to Towers Foundation carries out its mission to “do good” by providing mortgage-free homes to Gold Star and fallen first responder families with young children and by building specially adapted smart homes for catastrophically injured veterans and first responders. Tunnel to Towers is also committed to eradicating veteran homelessness and helping America to Never Forget September 11, 2001.

Frank is especially proud of how supportive St. Peter’s has been of the Foundation, with students and faculty volunteering each year to support their efforts. This is not surprising to Frank, who knows how important community service is to the fabric of St. Peter’s.

Frank lives by the teachings of St. Francis of Assisi, and is inspired by his words, “While we have time, let us do good.” Each day is an opportunity to carry out the teachings of St. Francis by helping others, and giving back to military and law enforcement families who risk their lives every day for us.
