Eamon Shields H’24
From the Emerald Isle to the Empire State, Mr. Eamon Shields’ success is a testament not only to the American dream but also to the importance and power of education. As the owner of Daggart Construction, he is the driving force behind impactful projects that help advance our school and local community.
As one of seven children growing up in Ireland, Eamon set out to forge his own path in the U.S. during the early 1980s. Motivated by his personal philosophy—one he shares with our nation’s Founding Fathers—Eamon’s belief in “life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness” served him well in his new home.
Not long after landing at JFK, Eamon began a career in a downtown office building and met Terry, his wife and the love of his life. Eamon also continued his hurling (the national sport of Ireland) career here, earning 11 New York championships over a 23-year career.
Over the years, Eamon has become an integral part of the greater Staten Island community, dedicating himself and his work to providing the best for his family and the people he meets. His commitment to St. Peter’s Boys High School is no different.
Beginning professionally with a large school addition project, Eamon has helped to transform St. Peter’s Boys High School alongside past and present leaders— former president James Kelly, former principal and current president John Fodera and current principal Mike Cosentino, to name a few. Eamon remains committed to empowering St. Peter’s with the hopes of its continued growth and service to all families within the North Shore community.
As an Irish Catholic himself (and former Hurler champion), he states that St. Peter’s reminds him of home. We’re pleased to share that he will always have one here.
